Birthday Sweets

My birthday was last week and my dear friend, Sue-Lee, literally made me one of the sweetest gifts I have ever received. Sue-Lee has been on a bit of a baking frenzy, having recently taken classes on cake decorating and sugar flowers. She also took a workshop on macarons... at the Cordon Bleu in Paris, no less! I was so happy when she presented me with a lovely box for my birthday - full of beautiful macarons and a gorgeous little cake, just for me. :)

The macarons tasted as good as they looked - they could have easily been purchased from a high end patisserie in Paris! Sue-Lee ground the almonds herself to make the fine almond meal needed to make the shells. She also pureed fresh raspberries for the chocolate raspberry ganache. Mmmmmm!

I also loved the delicious lemon cake - adorned with handmade sugar flowers. It was the perfect size and the flavour was amazing! I shared the cake and the macarons with my family and everyone was very impressed!

Sue-Lee, thank you so much for the special birthday sweets. I really appreciate the effort you put into making the treats and I enjoyed every bite!!!

Movement Redux

This post is a long time coming... I'm a little behind on my blog posts. Last November, my friend and I went to see The Tent performance and, once again, it did not disappoint! There were 9 dancers this time and they were all very talented and unique. See my photos from the first performance we attended together here. Happy weekend! :)
